Eligibility Criteria

1. Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed Matriculation or 10th Class Examination from a recognized Board/University as of 01-01-2026.

2. Age Limit

• Age criteria: 18 to 23 years as of 01 January 2026.
• Birth Date Range: Candidates should not have been born earlier than 02-01-2003 and later than 01-01-2008.

Upper Age Relaxation:

• SC/ST: 5 Years
• OBC: 3 Years
• Ex-Servicemen: 3 Years (after deduction of service)
• Victims of 1984 Riots: 5 to 10 years (depending on category)

Selection Process

The selection for SSC GD Constable 2025 will be completed in four stages:

1. Computer Based Examination (CBE): An online objective test.
2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) & Physical Standard Test (PST): Qualifying in nature.
3. Detailed Medical Examination (DME): Medical fitness check.

Educational Qualification:

Constable (GD):

• The candidates must have passed the Matriculation or 10th Class Examination from a recognised Board/ University as on or before the cut-off date i.e., 01-01-2026.

Age limit (As on 01 January 2026):

• 18-23 years. Candidates born not before 02-01-2003 and not later than 01-01-2008.

Age Relaxation of SSC Jobs:

• SC/ ST – 5 years
• OBC – 3 years
• Ex-Servicemen – 3 years after deduction of the military service rendered from the actual age as on the date of reckoning
• Children and dependents of victims killed in the 1984 riots (Unreserved/EWS) – 5 years

Selection Process of SSC Recruitment 2025:

• The recruitment process will consist of Computer Based Examination (CBE), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Physical Standard Test (PST), Medical Examination (DME/ RME) and Document Verification.
• The candidates, who are successful in the PET/PST, will be considered eligible for shortlisting to the next stage i.e., Detailed Medical Examination (DME)/ Document Verification (DV).
• The candidates, who are qualified in the PET/PST and Medical Examination/ DV will be considered for inclusion in the final merit list.

Computer-Based Examination 2025:

• The Computer-Based Examination will consist of one Objective Type Paper containing 80 questions carrying 2 marks each with the following composition

• There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. Candidates are, therefore, advised to keep this in mind while answering the questions.
• All the questions will be of Objective Multiple-Choice Type. The Computer Based Examination will be conducted in English, Hindi and 13 Regional languages viz. (i) Assamese, (ii) Bengali, (iii) Gujarati, (iv) Kannada, (v) Konkani, (vi) Malayalam, (vii) Manipuri, (viii) Marathi, (ix) Odia, (x) Punjabi, (xi) Tamil, (xii) Telugu and (xiii) Urdu.
• The dates of the Computer-Based Examination will be informed to candidates only through the website of the Commission.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)/ Physical Standard Test (PST):

• Based on the performance in the CBE, candidates will be shortlisted for PET/PST by the Commission. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST) will be conducted at various centres finalized by the CAPFs.
• Detailed scrutiny of candidates’ eligibility/ documents will be undertaken at the time of DME/ DV.

Medical Examination/Document Verification: SSC Constable Recruitment 2025

• Candidates will be shortlisted for Detailed Medical Examination (DME)/ Document Verification from the pool of
  candidates who qualify the PET/PST.
• The shortlisted candidates will be medically examined by the Medical Boards constituted by the CAPFs to assess their physical and medical fitness.
